Portfolios
What is a homeschool portfolio?
Homeschool portfolios are a form of student record keeping that documents educational progress. Homeschool portfolios illustrate what your child has learned, how it was accomplished, what resources were used and how much progress was made.
As your student's homeschool evaluator I will provide all the necessary checklists and information in regards to must have items, as well as additional items you may wish to include. The following information is general suggested for creating and maintaining an annual homeschool portfolio.
Digital Portfolios
Families may wish to create digital portfolios. This is a great option for virtual evaluations, keeping work from year to year, and for incorporating digital tools into your teaching and learning. The following FREE options are a great place for creating digital portfolios:
SeeSaw (free platform for portfolios that can be used via web or app! At the bottom of this page is a great tutorial but there are many on youtube as well. You are the "teacher" and your child is the "student" when you sign-up)
Create a private Facebook Group Page and use the Albums tool to organize work samples by subject area
Upload work samples/images into Google Slides
Create a Google Site
Scan as a PDF document using an iphone/ipad or computer
Some other options include:
Use your webcam to show me physical samples of work
Use the screen share option via Google Meet to show me a collection of resources saved on your computer
Paper Portfolios
Families may wish to create and maintain physical, paper-based portfolios to showcase their homeschool year. By doing so the student can include any resource by use of file folders, binders, and scrapbooks.
Many templates for organizing and planning your portfolio can be found online for free and purchase on sites such as teacher pay teacher.
