PA Year-End Evaluations
Whom can I be an evaluator of?
I am able to evaluate students in K-6 with or without a 504/IEP. I am also able to evaluate students in grades 7-12 with pre-approval. I have a letter you submit to your school district to seek this approval. No extra step is needed besides that.
What is the process for choosing me as your evaluator?
First get to know me and email any questions you still may have after you have reviewed this page. If you do not have any additional questions and would like to move forward you simply submit a request form and I will respond within 3 business days.
After we discuss and agree on services I will send an email with a custom welcome packet for your child(ren),an agreement form to be returned within 3 days from receiving, and an evaluation checklist that is to be returned no later than 7 days before your scheduled evaluation. This checklist is all the prep work for the evaluation and makes our time together most productive. After that I am here anytime to answer any questions/concerns you may have regarding year-end evaluations up until our scheduled date. I am happy to support you on the homeschool journey!
What are the fees for evaluation services?
All services and fees can be found here. New family rates begin at $50 and a reduced for siblings, referrals, and returning the following year. The fee includes year long support for portfolio and general homeschool concerns, my time to complete the annual evaluation, suggestions and recommendations for the following year should you like any, and completion of required evaluation report for school district. Invoices are sent at the end of the evaluation via PayPal and are due within 48 hours. Upon payment, evaluation form will be sent electronically or by mail should you need a paper copy.

What can you expect during an annual evaluation with me?
During the evaluation we will spend 30-45 minutes reviewing some highlights from the school year, samples of work provided that demonstrate progress made in the subjects you covered that year, and then other required items such as book logs. We will also confirm you have 180 days of learning on record, and have any standardized test completed for students of testing grade only. I will then leave any additional time open for you to ask any questions or address any concerns you may have. I like the process to be informal and interactive. I love when the students take ownership over their learning and are proud to show their work. If students are shy or unable to share on their own, I do not hesitate to work with the parents/guardians. I supply all my evaluation students with a checklist at time of booking so that everyone is prepared well in advance for the evaluation. I am here to support your homeschool efforts, and not to pass any type of judgement or opinion on the methods, materials, or outcomes.
How can I get more support with my year-end portfolio?
Homeschool portfolios are a form of student record keeping that documents educational progress. Homeschool portfolios illustrate what your child has learned, how it was accomplished, what resources were used and how much progress was made. As your student's homeschool evaluator I will provide all the necessary checklists in your Welcome Packet and information in regards to must have items, as well as additional items you may wish to include. Please click here for additional portfolio support.
What happens after the evaluation takes place?
At the end of the evaluation I will review all my notes and the materials presented to me and supply you with a signed evaluation for you to submit to your school district within 2 business days. I can supply via PDF in an email or mail you 2 paper copies (please allow 5-7 days total for it to arrive in the US mail). As the law outlines, it is the parent/guardian's responsibility to submit the letter of evaluation to the home district, not the evaluator.
Are there increased fees for evaluating a student with IEP/504/GIEP?
No. I do not charge any additional fees to evaluate students with any type of specialized individual education plan. As the law outlines I am there to provide the same service, to validate the time spent leaning, review book logs, and observe if progress has been made within the taught subject areas. Every child is unique, and those with IEP/504/GIEP would have learning outcomes decided upon at the start of the year from the family and home district SPED department. I am not here to critique or measure those, but simply to see if progress is being made. Evaluators do not have any legal implication or part in writing IEP/504/GIEPs for any student during a year-end evaluation.
